This was a race the team had won in 2017, so expectations were high.
Kieran made the 4 rider break, which would be the race winning move. Unfortunately Ribble had 2 riders in the group, this would make it very difficult for Kieran to win. the plan was for us to get another 2 or more riders away in a group which would join the leading 4 riders. This didn’t happen, hats off to the Ribble riders who drove the break relentlessly. The chase from behind was frustrated by by riders unwilling to work consistently.
Kieran had to settle for 3rd place. It was another podium result, but as a team we were capable of winning. That’s bike racing…
