The event was as always a great day, the weather was better than forecast. The road being wet would reduce the probability of super fast times, but at least it wasn’t raining on the riders or huge crowd.
Joe was the penultimate rider to start, after finishing 2nd last year. Liam and Charlie posted respectable times, although they were both a little disappointed not to have gone quicker. These events require a unique effort and without plenty of specific training and race practice, having ridden road races all season, up to 5 hours long, a hill climb is a different challenge altogether.
Joe finished 6th. A long way from his best.
We did however win the team prize.
Joe will be training hard to build up to The British Championships at the end of October.
